A fumaça e a fuligem das queimadas, comuns neste período de estiagem, podem causar problemas de saúde, principalmente nas crianças. Os mais frequentes são no sistema respiratório, como tosse, nariz entupido, falta de ar, bronquite, conjuntivite e irritação da garganta e também dos olhos. Mas neste ano tem um grupo de pessoas que também está mais sensível à fumaça e à fuligem: os curados da Covid-19.

O clínico geral Izac Miranda, do Sistema Hapvida, explica que a Covid-19 deixa sequelas no aparelho respiratório que podem demorar alguns meses para desaparecerem. “A inalação de fumaça e fuligem faz a inflamação pulmonar que não esteja totalmente sarada vir à tona. A pessoa fica mais sensível e pode ter problemas respiratórios, como dispneia, não igual à causada pela Covid, mas pode precisar procurar uma unidade de saúde”, afirma.

Já nas crianças, as reações à fumaça e à fuligem podem evoluir para uma irritação alérgica, gripe e crise em asmáticos, ressalta Guilherme Vernachi, pediatra do Sistema Hapvida.

O ideal, afirma, é preservá-las desta insalubridade. Quando não é possível, ele orienta para que usem máscara, que evita a inalação de pequenas partículas. Vernachi sugere, ainda, a utilização de umidificador de ar, toalha molhada ou uma bacia de água no quarto para aumentar a umidade do ar, evitando que a criança inale essas partículas. Também indica que os pais incentivem as crianças a beber mais água, pois hidratada seus pulmões e vias aéreas poderão combater melhor as partículas de fuligem.

Vernachi orienta pais e responsáveis a levar a criança a um pediatra se ela apresentar febre alta, tosse ou irritação nasal, pois, neste momento de pandemia de Covid-19 o ideal é sempre procurar um especialista para que se possa identificar se o problema é decorrente da fumaça ou se trata de um algo mais sério. “O ideal é evitar a automedicação, que pode levar a um problema mais grave”, conclui o pediatra.
